Pitivi video editing tutorial

Pitivi is a free video editor software for Linux. Here is a small example of how to use it. I have 2 movie clips 10 minutes long each from my car DVR, and I want to stick them together and cut some unnecessary parts. So let's start by opening Pitivi editor.

Create New project.

Add movies which we are going to edit and drug and drop first movie to the timeline area.

I don't need couple of minutes from the beginning of the first clip and several minutes in the end of the second clip. So put slider to the time where you want to cut the movie and press Scissors button in the left bottom of the editor.

Now drug and drop the rest of the clip to the beginning of the time line.

Add second clip to the time line to the end of the first one and cut it in the end in the same way like for the first clip.

That's all editing I need for this sample, so now we need to render the movie. Click Render button on the toolbar.

Select desired container format.

In the Video tab select the codec.

Optionally you can play with the Advanced options.

Set the Audio options

Wait some time before your new movie get rendered.

And get something like that in the end
